Skincare at Every Age

Still using the same wash to cleanse your face as you did when you were 13? Not sure when to incorporate retinol? Let's break it down by the decade!

20’s

Wash your face twice a day, moisturize twice a day, and apply sunscreen daily. Consider starting a retinol product once you’ve committed to daily sunscreen use. We like SkinMedica Retinol Complex 0.5 or Alastin Renewal Retinol 0.25 for more sensitive skin and first time retinol users.

30’s

Continue the steps from your 20’s. For dark spots or wrinkles, you’ll likely want to start a brightening or anti-aging serum as well. We love needle free serum for people who want to build collagen and Vita-CE for those wanting to brighten their skin.

40’s-50’s

Wash, apply serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen in the morning and wash, regularly exfoliate (3-4 times/week), apply serums, and moisturize nightly. Get regular facials to keep your pores cleared and treat the outermost layers of your skin. For anti-aging, we like Alastin Restorative Skin Complex and TNS Advanced+ Serum. For pigmentation concerns, we like A-Luminate by Alastin and Lytera 2.0 by SkinMedica.

60’s

Skin becomes more dry with age. If you haven’t started a hyaluronic acid serum to help with hydration, now is the time to start. Hyaluronic acid (HA) draws water to the tissues and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Continue your steps from previous years, but be sure to talk to your provider if you notice any changes as your skin thins and cell turnover slows. Your routine should always be adjusted to best suit your needs.
